About Gisela Payne 


Gisela Payne qualified with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Degree from the University of Durban-Westville, South Africa in December 1994. For the past 23 years, she has specialised in Paediatrics, treating children of all ages and diagnoses in a variety of mainstream and special school settings.  

Gisela Payne supports evidence-based therapy and works closely with children and their families to develop realistic, attainable goals so that they may reach their full potential. Gisela Payne has extensive knowledge and experience in the treatment of children who are experiencing difficulties with gross and fine motor coordination, handwriting, sensory processing, visual perception and daily living skills (dressing, feeding, personal hygiene).

After working in the NHS for 2 years, Gisela Payne returned to South Africa in 1999 where she ran her own private practice for 14 years treating children with developmental delay, coordination difficulties, dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, neurological and degenerative disorders, ADD / ADHD, epilepsy, chromosomal disorders, sensory integration difficulties, Asperger’s Syndrome, handwriting and visual perceptual difficulties.  

Since returning to the UK in 2012, Gisela has worked in a variety of NHS and private practice settings. She has provided Paediatric Occupational Therapy services to children with varying needs and diagnoses, including Autism and Downs Syndrome, in mainstream and special schools across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Chelsea / Westminster.

Gisela Payne is also passionate about sport for the physically disabled and has been involved in the organisation and coaching of shotput, discus, javelin, club throw, Boccia and swimming at a special school in South Africa. On several occasions, she has escorted children with physical disabilities to district and national sports events.
